Email Setup for iPhone/iPad

The following are a step-by-step guide to setup an email account for your iPhone/iPad

**Please note that these instructions were created with IOS 7.X and may vary from version to version **


1. From your home screen, navigate to iPhone/iPad settings > 'Mail, Contacts, Calenders' > 'Add Account' > 'Other' > 'Add Mail Account'.

2. Fill in the provided fields with the appropriate information.

  • Name: Specify your name.
  • Email: Your full email address that you created with WebSlice ie) username@yourdomain.co.nz.
  • Password: The password for your email address.
  • Description: You can specify any description.
  • When complete, click 'Next'.
  • Select protocol type: IMAP or POP3 (it will be highlighted in blue). We recommend useing IMAP.

3. The 'Name', 'Email' and 'Description' fields should already be filled from step 2.

  • Incoming Mail Server settings if you prefer to use Secure SSL/TLS (Recommended): Host Name - SSL will require a WebSlice hostname. It will be in the format [yourservername].webslice.co.nz. ie) victoria.webslice.co.nz.
    Username - Same as your email address.
    Password - Your email account's password.
  • Outgoing Mail Server settings if you prefer to use Secure SSL/TLS (Recommended): 
    Host Name - SSL will require a WebSlice hostname. It will be in the format [yourservername].webslice.co.nz. ie) victoria.webslice.co.nz.
    Username - Same as your email address.
    Password - Your email account's password.
  • Incoming Mail Server settings if you prefer to use Non-SSL: 
    Host Name - This will be your domain's hostname. This will most likely be in the format mail.[yourdomain].
    Username - Same as your email address.
    Password - Your email account's password.
  • Outgoing Mail Server settings if you prefer to use Non-SSL: 
    Host Name - Non-SSL will require your own domain's hostname. This will most likely be in the will be in the format mail.[yourdomain].
    Username - Same as your email address.
    Password - Your email account's password. When complete, click on 'Next' > 'Save'. This will eventually guide you back to the 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars' screen.

4. You will now need to check that the correct ports are assigned to your incoming/outgoing servers.

  • Select your newly created account to access it, and select 'Account' > 'Advanced'. If you set an IMAP connection, you need to use the ports 993 (SSL) or 143 (non-SSL). Leave the 'IMAP Path Prefix' field empty. You have the option of turning SSL on/off, please ensure that your SSL preference matches your action in step 4. If you set a POP3 connection, you need to use the ports 995 (SSL) or 110 (non-SSL).

5. In order to setup Outgoing Server settings, you will need to return to the previous menu ('Account'), then select the 'SMTP' in the Outgoing Mail Server section. Select the host name of your outgoing server (the one you specified in step 3). You will need to use Server Ports 465 (SSL) or 25 (non-SSL). Click 'Done'. And that's it! To test your new account, start sending test emails from your email application.
